Staff Analysis of the Legislation
HB 705 amends Code Section 15-10-2 of the OCGA to provide jurisdiction in magistrate court for civil claims up to $25,000 alleging torts, in which exclusive jurisdiction is not vested in superior court. The bill also increases the filing fee in magistrate court to a maximum of $40 for claims $15,000 or greater.
